INTRODUCTION

WELCOME TO Pioden (pronounced: pee-or-den). This blog features all news and photos from the litter of Pug puppies I am helping to raise. The mother is called Madge and she is six years old. She's my mother's dog but is a family pet. Due to the work involved in raising puppies, and the fact that I adore babies of all kinds, I always help out. I have raised a seven-puppy litter before; when I'm not raising puppies I work as a dog-sitter.

HISTORY

Madge successfully raised seven puppies in the beginning of 2006. My mother kept one of the boys, Fall Out Boy, and he will be going to Crufts next year. While I kept one of the girls, Sweepie, who will be having a litter of her own when she's old enough. Madge visited the same dog as last time, so the puppies born now will be true brothers and sisters to the original litter.

My mother is a qualified vet-nurse so everything is done very safely and for the best interest of Madge.

SAFETY

Please be aware when buying puppies. Do not buy from puppy famers/dealers. Always view the puppies with their mother. Make sure the animals are well looked after and kept in a clean environment. If you are buying a Pedigree dog only buy one with the correct papers - if they don't have papers then they are not Pedigree dogs, or have been acquired illegally.

DISCLAIMER

Raising puppies is a time-consuming and expensive venture. Please think carefully before breeding with your dog. To stop unwanted pregnancies you should get your dog neutered. For females that takes place after their first season; for males it can be done at any time.

Moving House

Wednesday, 2 January 2008 | 22:38

I have some more pictures of the pups to add from their first Christmas, but I'm moving out at the weekend so I don't have time to add them just yet. As soon as I'm settled with an internet connection I'll update with the pictures.

The puppies have both had an excellent Christmas and New Years. They got two massive toy ducks each, which they sleep with every night. Dolores met her new owners, who she will be going to live with in a few weeks time. And they spent New Years Eve running round the house like loonies.

Because I'm moving out of home I won't be with the puppies as much. Being seperated from them is going to be really hard because they have been my life for the last three months. But, what with Dolores leaving soon, and therefore them both growing up and away from me, I think now is the best time to make the move. They are very big and mature for their age and I know they're going to have amazing lives without their Nanny Ys looking over their shoulders all the time. Of course, I will still see them every weekend, until Dolores leaves for her new life, then I'll only be able to watch Wednesday mature into an adult Pug. Because there's only two of them in this litter saying goodbye is going to be exceptionally hard.
