INTRODUCTION

WELCOME TO Pioden (pronounced: pee-or-den). This blog features all news and photos from the litter of Pug puppies I am helping to raise. The mother is called Madge and she is six years old. She's my mother's dog but is a family pet. Due to the work involved in raising puppies, and the fact that I adore babies of all kinds, I always help out. I have raised a seven-puppy litter before; when I'm not raising puppies I work as a dog-sitter.

HISTORY

Madge successfully raised seven puppies in the beginning of 2006. My mother kept one of the boys, Fall Out Boy, and he will be going to Crufts next year. While I kept one of the girls, Sweepie, who will be having a litter of her own when she's old enough. Madge visited the same dog as last time, so the puppies born now will be true brothers and sisters to the original litter.

My mother is a qualified vet-nurse so everything is done very safely and for the best interest of Madge.

SAFETY

Please be aware when buying puppies. Do not buy from puppy famers/dealers. Always view the puppies with their mother. Make sure the animals are well looked after and kept in a clean environment. If you are buying a Pedigree dog only buy one with the correct papers - if they don't have papers then they are not Pedigree dogs, or have been acquired illegally.

For more information, please, please read the following article: A Guide To Buying A Puppy Safely

DISCLAIMER

Raising puppies is a time-consuming and expensive venture. Please think carefully before breeding with your dog. To stop unwanted pregnancies you should get your dog neutered. For females that takes place after their first season; for males it can be done at any time.

Growing Up & Moving On

Dolores left us on 19th January.

She's gone to a really great home and is very happy there. Saying goodbye was really hard for me, though. I didn't realise just how much I'd been hoping I'd somehow be able to keep her until she left. It's been great to hear how well she's been getting on and I know she's in the best place she could be.

Wednesday has stayed with Mammy and Daddy and is very happy playing with her mother, elder brother and Aunty Areau.

She still comes to visit me and vice versa very often. Her and Sweepie are getting on great. She's full of way too much energy and always leaves me exhausted after our days together.

Unfortunately we had some very bad news about one of the puppies from the previous litter. She has been sold on to somewhere that is not very nice and we're still in the process of tracking her down and bringing her back home where it's safe. We've all been very upset by it and, since I've moved out of home and can't be there as much as I'd like to be, Mammy and I came to the decision not to have any more puppies. Perhaps in a few years time we might feel a little better about it but we've both said we'd only do it if one or both of us want to keep a pup from the litter. So Madge and Sweepie have both been spayed now. We always knew Madge would after this litter, and I am very happy Sweepie was able to as well because I was never keen on her having pups because she's such a baby herself.

So this will probably be the last post I make on this blog. I'll post any future news/pictures about Wednesday on my blog.

'Bye xxx
